Our Story
A Note from Our Founder
Dear Parents & Students,
I founded Germinate Learning because I had seen too many children feeling disconnected with the way science was taught in schools. Many children felt learning Primary Science was drill and practice, reduced to an exercise of getting the right “keywords” or lose marks for incomplete answers. Time for investigative experiments and curious inquiry was scarce and compressed within school hours. Not surprisingly, interest and motivation for this otherwise fascinating subject fizzled with time. As a passionate science educator, this was a really unfortunate scenario that had to change.
After over a decade of teaching science in MOE Schools and as a former PSLE Science marker, I took a leap to broaden my teaching practice with a Masters in Education from The University of Melbourne’s Graduate School of Education. This season, along with a year-long stint in an Australian public school, gave me the lens to establish the framework for the teaching pedagogy that we use with great success at Germinate today. It’s goal- to cultivate a strong foundation and sustained appreciation for science in each child, while connecting its relevance to the changing world around us.

Parent Support
We understand that many parents feel at a loss at how to guide their children in answering and tackling science questions and this can be frustrating.
Our parent equipping sessions & community support groups are designed to plug some of these gaps and help parents align their expectations and challenges with what their child is learning.
Student Support
We work with parents to advise the best pacing and program based on the needs of your child with our regular science program & student masterclasses.
We respect that every child learns differently and have worked patiently with children of different abilities. If we don’t feel our programmes are a good fit for your child’s learning needs, we will let you know as we have their best interests at heart and have your back!
